How can I tell if I am incontinent
How can I tell if I am incontinent
Before it develops into a nuisance, ordinary incontinence comes on very gradually but even a single small leak can be a worry and get you thinking if you have suddenly become incontinent. So it is useful to know what can be dismissed as normal and what requires attention:
These are OK:
- Passing water 4-6 times a day
- Passing water once (only) a night
- Ability to hold on without passing water for 3-5 hours
- No pain or strain on passing water
- Strong, continuous stream, not a hesitant dribble
- Ability to stop and start in mid-stream if you choose
If you can put a tick to each of these, you have nothing to worry about. However, if you notice that things beginning to change, you need to take action. The first thing to do is contact your Doctor and if you are in need of absorbent protective garments, the DryForLife range of incontinence products is designed to help you cope.
